A Message From Your Scribbler
so yeah um.
- i will be updating kagerou this sunday, and the sunday after that, for certain. By next sunday I should know if i'm ready to jump back in the 2-pages-per-week game or not. if it's a yes, then i'll lift the hiatus officially.
my work ethic makes me kinda proud--i pulled off the kind of hiatus where you still update. not at my usual 40 hours a week pace, but STILL.
- chapter 50 is ultimately gonna squeak through at a bit under 30 pages, i think. i had to jettison about 15 pages of pencils from the times i tried to force myself back into the routine during the seemingly interminable spazzrocket ascension this past year.
do not pine for these lost pages, because they were lousy. i saved the good art bits for later, and junked the rest.
- redoing chapter 4 for print is going to be off the table for a while--much as i want to de-horrible-ify the stuff from 11 years ago so you fine people will pay me more cashmoney for print copies, i want to keep going forward with the current story way more.
- when i do get back to 4, however: i'll be creating something like 5 or 6 pages for the expanded remix edition that will not be going up on the site.

I'm working through my burnout* issues, and aside from financial stuff and mental static, my life is SO AWESOME right now. Especially since I've met so many amazing artists in the HS fandom, and gotten interested in so many new styles. My art's really coming along and it's gonna rub off on the comic. PS - I have a kitty. OK so as much as I love Linux, it will not play nice with my tablet, nor does it feel any love whatsoever for painter 8. I did try out MyPaint and it was pretty badass, but there's a small problem: the pages in progress are all .rif format and will not convert. Plus I can't open them to edit for print using Mint. Also, Linux does not think I need to use my Cintiq's various features, such as calibration and shortcut keys, without knowing how to program command line bullshit and download third party hacks. bluhhhh. it also locks up my system if i try to switch monitors. so that's out. I've gotten lots of input on ways to make this work without infecting my computer with windows again, but there is pretty much no getting around the painter compatibility issue, so my quest can proceed no further. So that leaves getting a new copy of Windows, then running both OS dual boot style, which suits me just fine because who wears just one boot??? It'll be Windows for the comic and various linux-hating games, and then Mint for the everything else because I'm quite fond of its failure to suck spectacularly despite a high monetary and emotional investment. Whiiiich brings me to the next problem: finding a new copy of windows Vista or higher in my price range. Anybody getting rid of a no-longer-running licensed copy who's willing to hook a brother up? Microsoft swears you can call them to confirm that you are using the only living copy, which means you probably can't do that at all, but there are Ways and Means around this if you are an honest person who is sadly bound by red tape. Or just a cheater i guess. Please note that as I type these words, I have a very tiny and very fuzzy orange and white tabby kitten perching on my shoulder, and he will not stop purring for love nor money. COMPUTER AGAIN
Hey y'all! I got a virus that owned the FUCK out of Windows*, so I'm running linux right now on a fresh hard drive. I do not think any data was lost, though. Upside: I quite like Mint and think I will continue to use it instead of Windows once I get to make a choice. Downside: Linux does not play nicely with Painter so I can't work on the comic. BLAHHHHH. My 11th year of Kagerou update was gonna be really neat, too. :( *Yes I use a firewall, run a good antivirus program and MalwareBytes, and said all my prayers. hey remember me
okay so. I am posting this from my new apartment. doing it by phone because I don't have wireless here yet, and also because I am in the bathtub at the moment. I figured I should drop an update and let everyone know that I am safe and happy and living in Northfield again, in my very own 1 bedroom apartment, with my doggie and all the privacy my deadbolt can muster. it has been an incredibly shitty 8 months, dudes. not gonna lie, I was pretty much certain life hated me. one crisis followed another and my brain kept breaking and then I got evicted and couldn't find a place and living where I was just. it sucked. if you read my tumblr you probably know the details already but let's just go with "creative differences" and call it good. at some point during all this, my will to draw comics went poof. it would come back in little bursts but then go again. if you've been wondering why I've been doing a zillion homestuck things and no kagerou, that's why. I can't do my Big Important Project and so I do fanthings instead to keep being productive. but I have a home now, and the rent is obscenely cheap (yay projects!) and for the first time ever I am On My Own. I feel fucking amazing. I have my own space and I can do what I want and it's just so goddamn good to be alive. I haven't felt like this without being manic in... god, ages. there's no mistaking real happiness. anyway. I won't gush any further, just know that I am doing awesomely and hope to be settled in and able to start recovering my previous levels of functionality soon. huge, huge sigh of relief goes here. | | Monday, October 3rd, 2011 | 6:25 pm

I'm sorry if this is off-topic but holy shit you guys look at this art Luka did for me, commissioned after this post:  Luka's mini-commissions are the cheapest little pieces of genius you are ever going to find. CRISIS TIME yeah yet again
Oh FUCK my dog just broke another tooth, he yelped and I checked and it just... ugh. It's split down into the gumline and the broken piece is wiggling, and the pulp is visible. Oh fuck. FUCK. On top of everything else I can't control, I didn't pay close attention when he was chewing his BARF bone and he managed to worry it down to a "crack for marrow" size. Stupid STUPID my luck is so bad right now why did i even tempt fate. I'll, i don't know. I'll come up with something I can sell to afford to fix this, Rah sent me money to cover part of the bill but the last time this happened it ended up being insanely expensive and I'm already broke from the ongoing moving process and just. FUCK. Anybody wanna buy a crisis sketch for fifteen bucks? I'll mainline some caffeine and draw all night if I have to. Whatever you want, just expect it to be scribbly. Porn, fanart, porny fanart, whatever. He's my buddy and I gotta fix this tomorrow because I know an infection vector when I see it and he's looking so fucking stoic but it has to be horrible for him.
